 | | Boy Scouting is alive and well in Emporium. Troop 551 was well-represented at the 42nd annual International Camporee at Calumet in Elk Lick Scout Reserve. Attending were (from left): front -- Joey Botera and Norman Hunt; back -- John Major, Nick Botera and Jeff Hunt. Joey and Norman won first place in the Dutch oven bake-off with their patented "super stew." Upwards of 500 Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Venture Scouts from 25 states and nine nations attended, working on merit badges, First Aid, cooking and other skills. They also tackled a challenge course. |
