Chamber seeks new president

Gerry Montgomery
This month, the Coudersport Area Chamber of Commerce bids farewell to Gerry Montgomery. Gerry and his wife are relocating to Delaware due to family considerations.

The president vacancy will be filled by the Board of Directors at its January meeting. First Vice President Mike Harris will serve on an interim basis until the end of the year.

Montgomery has been an active Chamber leader. Prior to formally joining the organization, he was a volunteer with parades and other community activities.

The terms of Chamber Board members Dolores Gartside, Jole'e Mack and Mike Harris expire this month. Joining the board will be Carol Jackson, Jane Metzger, Walter Baker and Pam Karhan.

Incumbents who remain aboard in 2008 include Mark Moore, Paul Heimel, Alanna Huck, Stan Swank and Doug Morley.

The Chamber's Merchants Group is responsible for the Christmas lights that were placed along the borders of downtown buildings over the weekend. Stan Swank, Jole'e Mack and volunteers Tim Foust and John Harvey from Jubilee Foods worked on

installation.

There were cost overruns on the project due to the unanticipated need for additional wiring and hardware. The Merchants Group will be placing collection cans in several area businesses to solicit donations to cover the extra costs.
