State grant for CARP project A $14,950 state grant will help pay for removal of an "island" of vegetation atop a sandbar that has formed in the Allegheny River on the western border of Coudersport Area Recreation Park. The money is coming from the Commonwealth Flood Control Fund. Under supervision of the Pa. Dept. of Environmental Protection, the obstruction will be removed to ease flooding at CARP. Coudersport Borough is responsible for one-third of the project's expense and for long-term maintenance of the site. |
