Nearly 600 doses of influenza vaccine were provided in clinics recently held in Potter County senior centers and other locations. The free shots were provided by Charles Cole Memorial Hospital in partnership with Potter County Area Agency on Aging and the Pa. Dept. of Health. Authorities recommend vaccinations for about 75 percent of Americans, ranging from infants and young children to pregnant women, people 65 years or older, children and adults with chronic conditions such as asthma, diabetes, and heart disease, and health care professionals and caregivers. Basic hygiene - such as washing your hands and covering your mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing - can prevent the spread of the flu. Here, Bonnie Kratzer, R.N., director of Cole Hospital's Home Health and Hospice Departments, supervises a flu shot clinic.
