Elk State Forest District in Emporium has welcomed aboard Joe Kellert, a native of Coudersport, as assistant district forester position in charge of forest operations and maintenance. He holds an associate degree in forest technology and a bachelor's degree in forest science from Penn State and served internships with the Susquehannock State Forest and with a logging contractor in southcentral Pennsylvania. Kellert has served the Forestry Bureau as Tuscarora State Forester, as a wildfire prevention specialist, and as a recreation program specialist.
