Falcon girls suffer rare loss in non-league lid-lifter

Coudersport opened its girls' basketball season against a tough opponent and ended up losing the game in the final seconds.

Coach Brian Green's troops traveled to Olean High School Wednesday night to take on the Huskies in what proved to be a see-saw battle in which the hosts prevailed, 44-42.

Down 43-42 with 0:03 on the clock, the Falcons had a chance to tie or go ahead, but failed to convert on a oneand one free throw opportunity.

Kristy Kamper poured in 26 points to lead the offense, while Jessica Wilson had 14 rebounds and 10 points.

Coudersport takes on DuBois Friday at 6 p.m. in the St. Marys Tournament. The Falcons return to action, against either St. Marys Public or Otto-Eldred, on Saturday.

They're back in action next week with home games on Wednesday with Wellsboro and Friday with DuBois High. Junior varsity action starts at 6 p.m. and varsity at about 7:30.
