'O LITTLE TOWN' STARTS
It kicks off with a family movie at noon, being shown at the Coudersport Theatre. Price of admission to Mister Magorium's Wonder Emporium is a canned good, to be donated to the Coudersport Food Bank. When movie-goers emerge from the theater at 1:45, Santa Claus will be there to greet them and escort them to the courthouse square. A children's activity tent, heated and roomy, will be open at the square from 2 to 5. It will feature games, crafts and other attractions. There is no admission fee. Stop by the tent and cast your vote for the tree-decorating contest. Also at the tent, you can sign up for the awarding of a skiing package from Ski Denton. Live music and other entertainment will be on stage at the gazebo from 2 to 5. A fascinating ice-carving demonstration begins at 2:30 and concludes at about 4:30, by which time the professional carver will have created a nativity scene to adorn a manger at the square. Santa Claus will hear children's holiday wishes throughout the afternoon. An O Little Town Art Contest is underway. Students' works will be displayed at the John White Second Street Art Gallery, across from the courthouse square, from 2 to 4. Winners will be announced at the gazebo at 4:30. Santa will preside over closing ceremonies at the gazebo at 5. Winners of the ski package (must be present to win) and tree decorating contest will be announced. Santa will also recite "'Twas the Night Before Christmas," followed by a sing-along to "We Wish You a Merry Christmas." Jubilee Foods of Coudersport is holding a steak bake from 11 am to 6 pm, with proceeds to benefit the O Little Town Christmas Festival. Sponsors of 'O Little Town' include the Coudersport Area Chamber of Commerce Merchants Group and several cooperating businesses and individuals. |
