30th 'Lessons and Carols' Sunday

A popular Coudersport holiday tradition, the Lessons and Carols Christmas Service at Christ Episcopal Church, is scheduled for 7 pm Sunday and is open to the public.

An ecumenical choir has been rehearsing for several weeks for the blending of musical and liturgical offerings.

The local tradition dates back to 1967, when Father Strathmore Kilkenny first adapted the church's order of service to include a Sunday school pageant with lessons and carols on the third Sunday of advent. Over the years, the church congregation and choir embraced the concept and now, each Christmas season, members of other congregations join them.

Christ Episcopal Church is located at the corner of North Main and Sixth streets.
