$3,800 stolen from CCHS

A large sum of money, consisting of cash and some personal checks, was stolen from a classroom at Cameron County High School this week, according to Emporium Borough Police Chief Rufus Jones.

Jones said someone took more than $3,800 from an unlocked teacher's drawer overnight, perhaps during a school-sponsored activity while custodians were on duty.

Less than $1,400 of the amount stolen was in cash. The money was being collected for the school's German Club. Police are continuing their investigation.
