Rotary hears about Camp Cadet Guest speaker Robin Freeman discussed the services of Camp Cadet during a recent Coudersport Rotary Club meeting. The five-day camp engages 12- and 13-year-olds from Potter, Cameron and Tioga counties in police-style training and discipline. It's held each summer at Mansfield University. Last year, 78 cadets attended and successfully completed the program. They participated in physical training, handgun instruction, crime scene investigation, first aid and orienteering. Law enforcement officials assisted with the training. Freeman, a resident of Ulysses, has been involved in the camp since it opened in 2001. Her daughter completed the training and is now a counselor. In other business, Rotarians agreed to support an application from Coudersport High School student Kaitlin Reed to participate in the Rotary International Exchange Student Program. |
