Cameron County boys on the road

Cameron County is quietly positioning itself to make a run for the Northern Tier Boys' Basketball League title and some postseason success.

On Thursday night, the Red Raiders (3-2) of coach John Barnhart made a statement with a 73-37 win over visiting Ridgway. Leading a balanced scoring attack were Daniel Sullivan (16), Jarek Holjencin (15) and Jordan Crane (14).

Last Saturday, Cameron County was clicking on all cylinders in a 56-29 win at Galeton. The Red Raider defense throttled the Tigers while the offense showed patience and balance. Crane finished with 12 rebounds and 10 points. Charlie Holjencin and Sullivan tallied 11 points each. Jordan Garrigan canned a trio of three-pointers. He and Jarek Holjencin each scored nine points.

Barnhart's boys won't play again on the home floor until Jan. 18. They open a string of eight straight away games Dec. 27- 28 at the Sheffield Holiday Tournament. Opening round game is Thursday at 6 pm against Youngsville. League opener is slated Jan. 3 at Port Allegany.
