Emporium Boro budget approved

Members of the Emporium Borough Council put the finishing touches on the 2008 operating budget during a brief public meeting Thursday night.

The vote came following a private executive session during which Council members discussed personnel and real estate matters. They declined to reveal details.

Emporium's $1.1 million budget does not call for any increase in taxes. Council pointed out that the borough had looked ahead and raised taxes three years ago to prepare for higher expenses and they've been able to live within those means since that time.
