A geocaching workshop is being held on Saturday, March 29, in Galeton. Participants will learn the basics of Global Positioning Systems (GPS) equipment and how to locate caches which are planted all around the world. There will be handson training to navigate to a local geocache site, create a cachel, and enter caches on the web for others to locate. More ... A sure sign of spring is the annual Kettle Creek Valley Outdoor Show, scheduled for Saturday, March 29, at the Cross Fork Firehall from 9 am to 4 pm. More ... Thousands of brook, brown and rainbow trout, including some trophy-sized specimens from area hatcheries, are being deposited in area waterways in preparation for the 2008 trout fishing season. I t 's sponsored by the Bluebird Society of Pennsylvania. Decades ago, eastern bluebird populations plummeted by 90 percent and were absent from many areas in Pennsylvania. More ... Pennsylvania elk will be shedding their antlers over the next several weeks, enticing 'shed hunters' into the woods for early spring hikes. This 4x4 or 'rag bull' as they are often called, was still sporting his 'bones' earlier this week. He'll lose them any day now and begin growing what will likely be a very nice set of antlers.
