Lillian M. Herzog

OCTOBER 25, 1918 - AUG. 29, 2008

Lillian M. Herzog, 89, of Coudersport, died Friday (Aug. 29, 2008) in her home.

She was born on Oct. 25, 1918 in Ridgway, the daughter of Edward Linder and Marie (Ecklund) Linder. She graduated from Mt. Jewett High School in 1936 and from Bradford Nursing School in 1940. She married Donald E. Herzog on Sept. 14, 1940 in Smethport.

Mrs. Herzog worked as a registered nurse at the Potter County Memorial Hospital and was the Operating Room Nurse Supervisor at Charles Cole Memorial Hospital, where she retired after 29 years of service.

She was very active in her community and volunteered for a number of organizations. She was a member and deacon of the First Presbyterian Church in Coudersport. She was a Past Worthy Matron and 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star.

After retirement from Charles Cole Memorial Hospital, she was an EMT for 15 years with the Coudersport Volunteer Ambulance Association. She was a 50- year member of the Coudersport New Century Club and also a member of the Potter County Unit of the American Cancer Society, Habitat for Humanity, Presbyterian Women's Association, Coudersport Golf Club, Potter County Snowmobile Association, Potter County Historical Society, Pennsylvania Lumber Museum Associates, Coudersport Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Potter County Fine Arts Council.

She is survived by her grandson John R. Snyder and his wife Olga (Bibich) Snyder, and great-grandson Taras S. Lunev of Coudersport; son-in-law Michael E. Snyder and daughter-in-law, Debra (Moeller) Snyder of Dresden, N.Y.; grandson Nathan T. Snyder of Rochester, N.Y.; sisters in-law Dorothy (Johnson) Herzog of Smethport, Pa. and Theo (Herzog) Carlson of Brockport, N.Y., and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Donna M. (Herzog) Snyder; a brother, Lawrence Linder; a sister, Lahoma (Linder) DeGroat; brothers in-law Ray DeGroat, Fred Herzog, Kenneth Herzog and Pete Carlson, and sisters-in-law Frieda Linder, Ella Linder and Erla Herzog.

Friends and family were received at the Fickinger Funeral Home. A funeral service was held Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church in Coudersport with the Rev. Evon Lloyd McJunkin officiating. Burial was at the Sweden Hill Cemetery, Coudersport.
