      Cameron County's cardiac kids stayed undefeated entering Friday night's homecoming football showdown with Coudersport, coming off a 23- 20 win last Friday at Curwensville in double-overtime.

      Coudersport's second-half rally last Friday night at Ridgway may have rekindled the team's hopes to bounce back from adversity and make a run for a league championship and more. Plagued by injuries and coming off a tough defeat at the hands of Curwensville, the Falcons expected to bounce back against a so-so Elkers team - but it took longer than expected.

      All signs point to a three-team battle for the Northern Tier High School Volleyball League championship this season, with perennial power Coudersport currently on top of the heap. Austin and Otto-Eldred are also very much in the picture.

COUDERSPORT WINS GIRLS' GOLF TITLE
      Scholastic linksters converged on the Emporium Country Club on Thursday for the Penn-York Girls' Golf League Tournament, with the Coudersport Falcons capturing championship. The Falcons amassed a low score of 146, far ahead of the pack. Hannah Fink led the way with a 48.

GIANNOTTI SMASHES RECORD
      Coudersport's Emily Giannotti didn't just break the girls' cross country record at the Oswayo Valley course, she obliterated it. The junior thinclad covered the 3.1 miles in 19:59 Tuesday, shaving a full 13 second off the previous mark.

Storm still unbeaten as playoffs near
      Cameron County continue to plow through the competition in the Central Pa. Youth Football League, with one more regular season game on the slate before entering the championship playoff tournament as the top varsity (ages 11-12) seed.

RED RAIDER JR. HIGH TEAM 2-1
      "Papa John" has his team playing good football once again. Former varsity football coach John Fragale continues to develop talent among the younger boys at Cameron County High School. His junior high squad carried a 2-1 record into Thursday's game against Coudersport.

FALCON SOCCER TEAM TIES HUBBERS
      Coudersport and Smethport battled into overtime in a high school soccer game Tuesday before settling for a 2-2 tie. The visiting Falcons (3-6-1) got a break when a Smethport player deflected the ball into his team's net. Brian Kane drilled Coudersport's other goal.

Coudersport junior high 3-0
      Alex Furman and Caden Whitman each scored two touchdowns as Coudersport improved to 3-0 in junior high football with a 41-8 win over Smethport last week. Furman had a 47-yard touchdown run in the first quarter and a two-yard TD run late in the game. Whitman had a two-yard touchdown run and followed that moments later with 50-yard interception return for six more points.
