      Rain that fell earlier this week was welcome relief for area waterways, but was literally a drop in the bucket. Driftwood Branch of the Sinnemahoning Creek was below one-quarter of its median flow for late September entering last weekend.

     In support of the Pennsylvania Wilds tourist marketing campaign, PennDOt and the Pa, Bureau of Forestry have teamed up to install signs directing visitors to the Sizerville Nature Trail and Fred Woods Trail. Sizerville Nature Trail is located along Rt. 155 across from Sizerville State Park. Fred Woods Trail gateway can be found along Mason Hill Road. It was created by the Young Adult Conservation Corps in honor of Fred Woods, a forest foreman who died in the line of duty. PennDOT employees installing the sign are Ralph Grovanz from Cameron County and Randy Pesock from Potter County.

Fall foliage photo workshop
      A hands-on photography workshop focused on capturing images of color fall foliage will be held on Saturday, starting with a classroom session in Coudersport and continuing with a field trip to Cherry Springs State Park.

Archery season Saturday
      Pennsylvania's six-week fall archery deer season begins on Saturday. Archers can hunt antlered or antlerless deer through Nov. 15. The late statewide archery deer season runs from Dec. 26 to Jan. 10.

Stargazing event set
      Cherry Springs State Park will host a stargazing program, Deep Space Object Observation, Saturday starting at 8 pm. Visitors will use sky maps to find objects that are visible this season and then use telescopes to get an up-close look at other objects.

Park to host foliage hike
      Lyman Run State Park is hosting a fall foliage hike on Saturday at 1 pm. Visitors will learn why the leaves change color and what makes the change possible as they hike along the Spur Line Trail to the Rock Run Road overlook and back.
