Evelyn Koyste Caruso

Evelyn Koyste Caruso, 87, of Youngsville, formerly of Emporium, died Sunday (Oct. 5, 2008) at the Warren General Hospital.
She was born Nov. 9, 1920 in Tylers, the daughter of William and Mary Silinsky Koyste.
She has resided in Warren for the past 15 years, moving from Emporium, where she resided for 60 years. She was a 1938 graduate of Frackville High School and was employed in the Mounting Department of the Sylvania plant in Emporium.
Mrs. Caruso was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Warren, and a former member of St. Mark's Catholic Church of Emporium, where she was a longtime religious education teacher and member of the Catholic Daughters of America.
She also enjoyed sewing, reading and collecting cookbooks. She was an accomplished artist and especially enjoyed painting. She was a former leader with the Cub Scouts and Brownies.
She is survived by a daughter, Sandra (Charles) McIntyre, of Warren; one son, David A. (Mary) Caruso, of Wichita, Kansas; two sisters, Kay (Frank) Shurr and Ann Zaldo; three brothers, Steve (Rosemary) Koyste, Bill (Carol) Koyste and Mike Koyste all of Reading; five grandchildren, Ryan, Kristine, Elizabeth, Alex and David; five great-grandchildren, Ashley, Adam, Francis, Lilly and Violet and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony J. Caruso, whom she married on May 2, 1944 at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He died on March 4, 1986.
A Mass of Christian Burial was conducted by the Rev. Fr. Walter E. Packard at the St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment was in St. Mark Cemetery, Emporium.
