RED RAIDERS THREE WINS FROM HERSHEY
      There was more than a district championship on the line when Cameron County met the Clarion Bobcats Friday night in a varsity football showdown at Brockway. Results weren't available by press time. The winner earns a berth in the Elite Eight, just two more wins away from a trip to the state Class A championship game in Hershey.

Big 30 all-stars named
      Cameron County and Coudersport each landed three players on the 2008 Big 30 Football All-Star Team, a ceremonial team comprised of top players from northcentral Pennsylvania and the southern tier of upstate New York. Offensive linemen Evan Abplanalp, senior, of Coudersport and Andrew Fragale, sophomore, of Cameron County were selected.

     Randy Cooney was hired this week as head varsity basketball coach at Cameron County High School. A former professional baseball player and native of Austin, Cooney has served as an assistant coach for several years. He succeeds John Barnhart and welcomes back a solid nucleus of regulars from last season. Several lettermen are currently involved in the Red Raider football season. First basketball game is Dec. 11 on the home court against Punxsutawney.

Falcons playing at next level
     Three members of Coudersport High School's district champion boys' basketball team of 2007-08 are continuing their careers at the collegiate level. Blair Heimel (top), shown here with rookie head coach Guy Rancourt, is a member of the Lycoming College Warriors. Derek Burdick (front, left) and John Hau (back) are playing for Penn State Du- Bois, where their teammates include Cameron County native Marcus Genevro (right), a former PSUAC All-Conference selection and team captain.
