Fire chief killed

Goodyear Hose Company Fire Chief Timothy R. Martin was killed in a snowmobile crash sometime Sunday morning near his home on Germania Overlook Road, south of Galeton.

Police said Martin, 32, was at the controls of a snowmobile that struck the rear of a parked, unoccupied car. Martin, who was wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene by Potter County Coroner Kevin Dusenbury.

Officers say the crash occurred between 3 am and 7 am.

Four face drug charges

Four Shinglehouse residents face drug charges and another is accused of threatening a witness in connection with the case.

According to Shinglehouse Borough Police, Tina M. Cusimano, 37, allegedly sold a controlled substance with the brand name of Xanex to a confidential informant.

Jesse Leverett, 47, is accused of providing Xanex to 52 year-old Deborah Calkins and possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Calkins is charged with possessing Xanex without a prescription.

Steven Appleby, 44, is accused of selling another controlled substance, hydrocodone, to a confidential informant.

Robert Carpenter, 32, is charged with threatening individuals he believed were witnesses in an ongoing investigation.

Shinglehouse Police were assisted in the case by state police from Coudersport and Kane as well as the Potter County District Attorney's Office.

Ejected from vehicle

A Coudersport woman suffered serious injuries when she was ejected from her car after it slid off Peet Brook Road in Allegany Township Friday morning. State police from Denton Hill identified the victim as 28-year-old Crystal Burdick Taylor.

Police said she was negotiating a right-hand bend in the road when she lost control of the car, which traveled over a large embankment and overturned several times.

Taylor was taken to Charles Cole Hospital by responders from Coudersport.

Identity theft

An incident of identity theft remains under investigation by state police at Denton Hill.

Sherry Kalasnik of Ulysses told officers that someone used her credit card to buy $950 worth of merchandise from an internet seller.

Charged with DUI

An Elk County man is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after striking an unoccupied vehicle with his car at a parking lot in the village of Roulette.

State police at Denton Hill filed charges against Stephen Atkeson, 41, of St. Marys.
