Austin Dam meeting Jan. 16

Discussions are continuing between Austin Borough Council and the Austin Dam Memorial Association over a parcel of land where a paper mill once operated north of the borough.

The association is interested in acquiring the property for potential expansion of the Austin Dam Memorial Park.

It's possible that the property could become a southern gateway to the ruins of the Austin Dam, allowing tourists to walk a long nature trail between the borough and the park.

Several local officials will be meeting in Austin on Wednesday night, Jan. 16, for further discussions.
