Philip F. Palmatier Philip F. Palmatier, 79, of Coudersport, died Monday, (Dec. 24, 2007) at Charles Cole Memorial Hospital in Coudersport. Born on August 15, 1928 in Coudersport, he was the son of Harry C. Palmatier, Sr. and Sophia (Mosch) Palmatier. On September 3, 1949 in Corpus Christi, Texas, he married Alfreda Osborne, who survives. Mr. Palmatier was a graduate of Coudersport High School. He was formerly employed as an appraiser with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. He had also worked at Agway and with the American Silver Truss Co. and was a lifetime farmer. He was a veteran of the Korean War having served with the U.S. Navy, where he retired as Captain after 33 years of service. He was a member and twice commander of American Legion Potter Post 192 in Coudersport. He was also a member of the V.F.W. Post 7810 of Austin, Eulalia Lodge 342 F. & A.M., Coudersport Consistory, Potter Commandery 69 Knights Templar, and a past member of the Coudersport Rotary Club. Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Curt (Judy) Palmatier of Montrose and Chris (Jami) Palmatier of Virginia Beach, VA; five daughters, Connie (Bill) Plummer of Westfield, Carol Bliss of Marion, NY, Cindy (Kevin) Sharp of Ulysses and Cathy (Brent) Cole and Celia (Robert) Kio, both of Coudersport; a daughter-inlaw, Beryle A. Palmatier of Spring Mills, 26 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Harry C. (Eugenia) Palmatier, Jr., of Coudersport; a sister, Irene (Almon) Freeman of Ulysses; a brother-in-law, Milton Freeman of Coudersport; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Commander Philip F. "Jet" Palmatier, Jr., two grandsons, Matthew Allen Palmatier and Jeremy Kio, and two sisters, Eleanor Dingman and Betty Freeman. Funeral services were held Friday (Dec. 28, 2007) at the American Legion Potter Post 192 in Coudersport, where the Reverend H.D. Youngblood, Jr. officiated. Military rites were accorded by members of the Potter County Honor Guard. Burial was at the Woodland Cemetery at Five Corners. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Patterson Cancer Care Center, 1001 E. Second Street, Coudersport, PA 16915, or to a charity of the donor's choice. |
