Jobless rate remains high locally

Potter County had the region's highest jobless rate in November, while Cameron County was second-highest.

Some 5.6 percent of Potter County's adults were looking for work during the month, down from a rate of 5.8 in October.

Cameron County's unemployment rate was 5.0 percent in November, down from 5.4 in both September and October. Elk County's jobless rate held steady at about 4.2 percent in October and November. Statewide, the unemployment rate was 3.9 in November, well under the national rate of 4.5 percent.
