Zoning group going back to planning table A study committee named by the Potter County Planning Commission (PCPC) to investigate a zoning ordinance for the county will resume its meetings later this month. PCPC members Mitch DeLong, John Nordquist and Marshall Hamilton are joined on the study committee by former PCPC member Ken Comstock, as well as David Saulter, Karen Stann and Roger Leight. Members have held monthly meetings to work on a proposal that will be presented to the Planning Commission. Purpose of the zoning ordinance would be to guide land development and growth in the county. Any countywide zoning regulations would need to be coordinated with the boroughs and townships. DeLong, who recommended the study committee, emphasized that there is no timetable for the group to make its recommendations to PCPC. Committee members are reviewing several documents as part of their research, including the county's comprehensive plan and stormwater management plan and the region's long-range transportation plan, drawn up by Northcentral Pa. Regional Planning and Development Commission. They have had experts on a variety of subject matters related to planning and zoning appear at their meetings. |
