Strengthening families Jan. 14

A "Strengthening Families" program returns to Emporium starting on Monday, Jan. 14.

The program teaches conflict resolution and communication skills while giving families the opportunity to have a fun evening out.

Every week begins with a free family meal. Parents and children then go to their own sessions to talk about whatever topic is on the agenda for that week. The last hour is spent as a large group involved in a child's game and a parent's game.

Important life lessons and skills are emphasized. Children learn about consequences for their actions, both good and bad, while parents are advised how to most effectively deliver consequences. Communication skills are also stressed.

Child care is provided and prizes are awarded to reinforce positive behavior. All families are welcome.
