Choral group holding tryouts

A choral group formed in Coudersport is offering rehearsals for prospective new members this month.

Anyone wishing to try out for the North Country Voices is welcome to attend the group's rehearsals at 7 pm on Thursday, Jan. 17, and Thursday, Jan. 24, at the First Presbyterian Church in Coudersport.

North Country Voices is a soprano, alto, tenor and bass choral group now preparing for a performance in May.

"The open rehearsals this month will give interested people an opportunity to meet members, experience singing with the group, and see if they might want to be considered for membership," said director Gloria Richardson, "Members of the group are dedicated to performing quality choral literature which is technically challenging and musically rewarding."

A commitment to the group requires participation in regular rehearsals which are held Thursday evenings through April in preparation for the concert.

"We'll be performing a program of American folk songs, including serious ballads, upbeat entertaining songs and energized spirituals," Richardson said.
