Cowburn rolling; record at 27-0

Sophomore Dirk Cowburn was named outstanding wrestler during the annual Coudersport Duals last Saturday.
Cowburn edged another solid grappler, Mark Havers of Bradford, 5-3, at 152 pounds to keep his undefeated record intact at 27-0.
"That was a great match," said Falcon coach Thad Taylor. "They are two talented, hardworking athletes who showed a lot of class and sportsmanship."
Cowburn pinned his Mansfield opponent in 17 seconds and dropped a foe from Wyalusing in 28 seconds. He won by forfeit against Clarion and Sheffield.
Senior heavyweight Brandon Grabbitt also impressed Taylor.
"I'm very proud of Brandon," he said. "He's a first-time wrestler and came up with a terrific effort and a couple of nice wins in front of the home crowd."
Grabbitt went 3-2 with pins against Mansfield and Sheffield.
Junior Rich Keagle went 3-2 with a pin and two forfeits at 189. He lost a tough 5-3 ultimate tie-break against Wyalusing.
Justin Barentine's 4-1 mark at 112 was the result of four forfeits.
Also participating were Tony Capatch (2-3 at 215), Touch Mongkonsawat (0-5 at 145), Ben Capatch (1-4 at 171), Caleb Spring (0-5 at 140), and Keegan DeLung (1-4 at 152/ 160).
Wyalusing was named champion through a tie-breaker over Clarion after each team went 5-0.
Philipsburg-Osceola was second at 4-1, followed by Johnsonburg (3-2), Bradford (3-2), Cameron County (2-3), Mansfield (2-3), Coudersport (1-4), Sheffield (0-5) and Oswayo Valley (0-5).
Tuesday's scheduled match at Johnsonburg was postponed. Coudersport opens a string of three straight home matches Wednesday night when the Oswayo Valley Green Wave rolls in.
