CSD NUFFER SET TO RETIRE AT YEAR'S END
Directors searching for successor

Coudersport Area School Superintendent George Nuffer III confirmed this week that he is retiring, effective at the end of the current school year.

A search is on for a successor by the Coudersport Area Board of Education.

Nuffer joined the district in July 2003 after serving as high school principal and head of curriculum for the Portville (N.Y.) Central School for 17 years. Prior to that, he held administrative and faculty positions in other New York State school districts and operated a concrete company.

He succeeded Ed Goulding as school superintendent at Coudersport and has been affiliated with statewide school administrator organizations in Pennsylvania, as well as Potter County Education Council, the Drug and Alcohol Council, Renaissance Committee and the Allegheny Broadband Committee.

Nuffer has played an active role in the current $8 million expansion and renovation projects that include an addition to the Coudersport Elementary School, new facilities at Coudersport Area Recreation Park and a revamped cafeteria and kitchen at Coudersport High School.
