Hit-and-run accident

No injuries were reported from an accident that occurred on Jan. 17 along Paul Hollow Road in West Branch Township, Potter County.

Police said Ross A. Stephens, 32, of Sellingsgrove was travelling north when he was unable to complete a left-hand turn and left the road. Stephens' vehicle struck an embankment, flew for about 50 feet and then struck a tree on the property of Jeffery P. McCrabb before striking a fence several times on the same property.

Stephens fled the scene and was later found at a seasonal residence on Scharr Road.

Traffic violations, including hit-and-run and other summary offenses were filed against Stephens.

Driver injured

Police say alcohol was apparently a factor in a onevehicle crash that seriously injured a downstate man Friday night on Rt. 872, between Coudersport and Austin.

Troopers report that Robert C. McRobbie, 41, of Hatboro was flown by medical helicopter to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville after he was ejected from the Chevrolet Tahoe he was driving in Homer Township, on the south side of Jenkins Hill.

A passenger, Michael J. Garofalo, 42, of Abington, was treated for minor injuries at Charles Cole Memorial Hospital in Coudersport and released.

Police said McRobbie lost control of the vehicle, which went off the east side of the highway, up an embankment and rolled over several times. Coudersport emergency services personnel assisted at the scene.

Two vehicles collide

A two-vehicle collision Friday morning on the West Branch of Fishing Creek in Clara Township, north of the village of Roulette, sent three people to Charles Cole hospital for medical treatment.

State police said Tonya Finster, 47, of Roulette Township applied the brakes to her southbound station wagon as she approached a northbound SUV being driven by Catherine Snyder, 56, of Coudersport.

Finster's car slid into the path of the other vehicle, then plunged down an embankment into a small creek. She and her daughter, Amber Moritz, also of Roulette Township, suffered moderate injuries. Snyder received minor injuries. All three were wearing seat belts.

Truck slides into pole

A Coudersport man escaped injury at about 11 am Tuesday when his pickup truck slid on an icy road and struck a utility pole.

Police said James Mink was driving on Long Road in Allegany Township when the vehicle slid out of control on a sharp curve near the North Hollow Road intersection.

Wreck on Rt. 6

An Eldred woman was taken to Charles Cole Hospital for treatment of injuries she received in a one-vehicle crash at about 11:15 am Tuesday on U.S. Rt. 6, near Dell-Hollow Farm in Eulalia Township.

A compact car being driven by Kimberly Miller slid off the road, struck an embankment and rolled over onto its roof, coming to rest upside down along the north side of the highway.

Tire flies off

No injuries were reported Tuesday morning when a tractortrailer lost a tire on Rt. 120 near Hercules Hollow in Shippen Township, Cameron County.

State police said Richard Hurd of La Jose was headed east when his 2003 Mack truck lost a front tire. The rig went off the north side of the road and struck parked cars owned by Angel Banks of Austin and April Chapman of Emporium.

Hurd was able to safely bring the tractor and trailer to a stop and prevent further damage.

One-vehicle mishap

A one-vehicle crash Sunday night on Phoenix Run Road in Hector Township, Potter County, caused severe damage to the car.

Police at Denton Hill said Bobbie Smith of Westfield swerved her 2000 Chrysler to avoid a deer which bounded into her path. The sedan went off the road and struck a culvert. She was not injured.

Truck burglarized

State police from Emporium are probing a theft from a vehicle Monday night or Tuesday morning.

Thieves smashed out the passenger side rear window on a Ford pickup truck owned by Ronald Hammersley while it was parked at his residence on Pioneer Road and made off with an undisclosed item.

DUIs

Charles Ullman, 35, of Emporium was arrested last week for driving under the influence after he was stopped for failing to use his headlights. He was stopped at the near the intersection of Midland Road and Meadow Road in Shippen Township, Cameron County.

While stopped for a traffic violation on Route 1011 in Bingham Township, Potter County, Thomas L. Kio II, 22, of Ulysses was found to be DUI. At that time, Denton Hill troopers took Kio into custody. Charges will be filed in district court.

Weather related accident

James Mink, 68, of Coudersport avoided injury Tuesday when a truck he was operating left the road and struck a utility pole in Allegany Township, Potter County Tuesday morning. Mink was taking a 90-degree turn on North Hollow Road when the truck left the road.

Troopers determined sudden snowfall and other weather conditions as the cause of an the accident. No charges were filed.
