Coudersport seeking perfection
Rare unbeaten season within reach for Falcon boys

As each game passes, this year's Coudersport High School boys' basketball team moves closer to achieving what only three of the school's previous squads have done: emerge undefeated in the regular season.

Coach Chris Fink, who vows that this is his last season, seems destined to go out a winner. His Falcons have survived three very close calls, including a dramatic overtime game with St. Marys Public, and are now riding high at 18- 0.

On Tuesday night, Coudersport jumped out to a quick lead and rolled over Austin, 73-27, despite a 14-point output by Tim Cheplic, who drilled 10 of 12 foul shots. Blair Heimel (16), John Hau (15), Colton Corey (9), Derek Burdick (8) and Eric Babcock (8) led the Falcon scoring parade.

On Friday, Coudersport rolled over Otto-Eldred, 66- 24, with aggressive defense and a two-to-one rebounding edge. Heimel (24), Hau (16) and Burdick (9) and Corey (8) led the offense.

Also on Friday, Austin played tough defense but faded in the second half in a 54-30 loss to visiting Oswayo Valley, despite 14 points from Mike Dieffenderfer.
