Verizon boosts Coudersport service

Verizon Wireless has expanded its network with a new cell site in Coudersport.

The new site improves cover- age and capacity in downtown Coudersport, along Route 44 east and west of Coudersport, along Route 49 North, and on Dutch Hill Road. A Verizon spokesman said the company installed the tower "to stay ahead of the growing demand for voice and data services."

More customers are looking for wireless data services such as picture messaging, text messaging, and wireless Internet access, the company said.

Nationally, Verizon Wireless added 1.9 million net retail customers during the fourth quarter of 2007.
