Falcons return to wrestling mat
Sophomore Dirk Cowburn moves to a glittering 28-0

There was only about 20 minutes of mat time as Coudersport's varsity wrestlers returned from their long layoff with a 52-21 loss at Johnsonburg Wednesday night.

The Falcons led 21-12 before the hosts swept the final seven bouts, four of them by forfeit.

Sophomore Dirk Cowburn continued his stellar season with a 6-3 decision over talented Josh Woodford at 152 lbs. Cowburn is now 28-0.

Coudersport's Ben Capatch (160), Chris Symans (215) and Brandon Grabbitt (285) were awarded forfeit wins.

Coming out on the losing end for the visitors were Keegan DeLung (145), Rich Keagle (189), Justin Barentine (112), Caleb Spring (135) and Touch Mongkonsawat (140).

"It was great to be back in action after all the postponements," Falcon coach Thad Taylor said. "We're looking forward to having a strong month of February and, hopefully, we'll have some wrestlers still competing in March."

Coudersport returns to action next Friday night against visiting Cameron County, followed by their final home match of the season on Monday, Feb. 11, against Kane. Both matches start at 6 pm.

Remainder of the revised schedule is as follows: Feb. 12, at Bradford; Feb. 15, at Smethport; Feb. 22-23, PIAA District 9 Tournament at Clarion University; Feb. 29-March 1, PIAA Northwest Regionals; March 6-8 PIAA State Championships.
