POLICE BLOTTER

Multiple charges

A Genesee man faces charges of burglary and criminal trespass for breaking into a Port Allegany home Saturday night.

Dustin Kio, 21, told police he broke into the home because he had paid a person living there for drugs, but did not receive them and was trying to get his money back. Kio admitted that he climbed through a window looking for the person.

In an unrelated case, Kio is accused -- with four other suspects -- of participating in burglaries and thefts of scrap metal throughout Potter County between May and October of 2007.

Then, last Dec. 23, he allegedly showed up at the state police barracks on Denton Hill to claim a gun used in a reckless endangerment incident and police discovered it was among the weapons stolen from one of the camps.

Police allege that, while Kio was at the barracks, he exhibited signs of being under the influence of drugs. He was arrested for DUI and a subsequent search of his residence turned up drug paraphernalia, marijuana and firearms that police say may have been involved in other incidents they are investigating.

Teens apprehended

Three teenage runaways from Ohio were apprehended at a Potter County camp last Thursday after a business owner reported to state police that the trio bought gas at a Wharton filling station and drove away without paying.

The teens are being charged with retail theft for stealing $40 worth of gas. Several hours after the theft, the store owner saw the three again and called state police at Denton Hill.

Troopers apprehended the two boys and a girl at a Wharton Township camp and determined that they were runaways from Warren and Niles. They were arraigned before District Judge Annette Easton of Coudersport.

While dining at the Genesee Family Restaurant on Tuesday, two Wellsville residents, Mark Dougherty and Beth Ann Young, and a Genesee woman, Monica Porcuri, became involved in an argument that escaladed into a physical altercation between them, troopers reported. Disorderly conduct charges will be filed against them in district court.
