Another race this weekend at Ski Denton

Ski Denton will host another collegiate level race this weekend.

The race is expected to draw hundreds of downhill enthusiasts and fans into the area.

In addition to skiing, the resort is also seeing an increasing number of snowboarders. Tubing is another popular attraction. Young people in particular are being attracted to snowboarding. Depending on the place and the time of day, snowboarders may outnumber skiers on any given slope.

Customers age 18 and under break down at about 50/50 for skiing and snowboarding.

Beginning snowboarders are encouraged to sign up for instruction. This can teach a novice how to avoid injury and master the basic techniques: control, stopping and adjusting speed.

A vendor, Country Ski and Sports, has been promoting snowboarding and holding demos at Ski Denton.

Denton Hill operating hours are 1-9 pm Monday through Thursday; 9-9 Friday and Saturday, and 9-5 on Sunday.

Several discounts, special events and other promotions are on the Ski Denton calendar.

The Feb. 22-23 weekend will feature the third annual Telefest, with competitions, giveaways, glade skiing, clinics, demonstrations and dealer booths.

The annual Spring Fling is scheduled March 22-23.
