Cameron County wrestlers looking ahead to districts

Cameron County's wrestlers continued to prepare for next weekend's PIAA District 9 Meet with a 59-6 win at Coudersport last Friday night.

Coach Scott Baker's boys have battled through postponements and other challenges. Several Red Raiders are contenders to move on to the Northwest Regionals and vie for a berth in the state championships next month.

Against Coudersport, Randy Schatz boosted his record to 18-2 with a quick pin at 145.

Mike Baker (171) improved to 18-4 with a pin in less than 90 seconds.

Taylor Songer got a pin at 152 to boost his record to 16-7. Cameron County also got pins out of Matt Bailey (140), who is now 16-9; Ryan Neyman (285) and Brandon Davies (119).

Hunter Bardo went to 12-3 the easy way - with a forfeit at 160. Other forfeit wins went to Dom Manginell (14-9) at 125; Tyler Bidwell (13-11) at 130, and Bryce Frey at 135.

Marcus Mullens (12-4) fell to Falcon Rich Keagle in a spirited battle at 189. Matt Burke scored a pin in an exhibition match at 285.

Cameron County closes out its regular season Friday night at Smethport and then has a week to get ready for the D9 Meet at Clarion University.
