ADMINISTRATIVE CHANGES
Four appointed to CCSD positions
By James Moate Endeavor News

There's new leadership at Cameron County School District. School directors appointed Clyde Moate (second from left) superintendent. Meanwhile, Lynn Newcomer (far left) was named Woodland Elementary School Principal, while (from left) Christine Holjencin was promoted to assistant principal at the high school and Patty Schwer to high school principal.
Members of the Cameron County School District's board of directors unanimously appointed four local educators to administrative positions last week.

Having recently fulfilled the necessary educational obligations, Clyde Moate was appointed to the position of Superintendent of Schools at a salary of $98,000 per year. Moate is a 1972 graduate of Cameron County High School (CCHS) and had served as Woodland Elementary School Principal for many years before being assigned interim superintendent last school year.

Moate taught in Cameron County from 1979 to 1985 before being named the principal of the Coudersport Elementary School, where he spent two years before taking the principalship at Troy (NY) Middle School. In 1993, he was made principal of Woodland Elementary School in Emporium.

"It's a great honor that (the board) has so much confidence in me and has chosen me as their superintendent," said Moate. "This is where I grew up and I love the area so I'm particularly thrilled… There's no place else I'd rather work."

Entering her 21st year as an educator at CCHS, Patricia Schwer left her interim status as the high school principal last Friday and returned on Monday as the school's principal. Her salary is $82,000 per year.

Appointed to the principal position at Woodland Elementary School, Lynn Newcomer is a longtime local educator and well-known as one of the area's top Spanish instructors.

He began teaching Spanish at Cameron County High School 22 years ago, a position he held until 2005 when he was appointed interim assistant to the high school principal.

Christine Holjencin was hired as the assistant principal at CCHS at an annual rate of $62,000.

She started teaching in the district as a substitute in 1997. In 1999, she was hired as the seventh- and eighthgrade science teacher. Since then, she has added several biology classes and ecology to her course load.

She is a 1983 graduate of CCHS. The four administrators began in their new positions Monday.
