Matthew T. Holjencin

Matthew Thomas Holjencin, 23, of Wilmington, NC, formerly of Emporium, died Friday, (Feb. 22, 2008), in Wilmington.

Born March 26, 1984 in St. Marys, PA, he was the son of Hope Holjencin Griffith.

A 2002 graduate of Cameron County High School, Matt moved to Wilmington three years ago. He was an outgoing and fun-loving spirit who loved Carolina basketball and cooking for his loved ones.

He was a member of Wilmington Moose Lodge #343 and the sons of the American Legion.

Surviving in addition to his mother, Hope, of Wilmington, are: one brother, Paul Griffith of Emporium; his grandmother, Joyce Holjencin of Wilmington; three uncles, Tom Holjencin, Jr. and Joe Holjencin both of Emporium and Sam Holjencin of Greenville, SC; and also several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Thomas Holjencin, Sr. in 2006.

Friends were received Sunday, Feb. 24 in Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel, Wilmington.

Friends will also be received in the Coppersmith- Condon Funeral Home, Emporium, today (Saturday, March 1, 2008), from 4 until 6 p.m. at which time a Memorial Service will be held with the Rev. Matthew Ryan, rector of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Emporium, officiating.
