Free help with income tax

Area families earning $40,000 or less are eligible for free federal and state income tax preparation.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) service is available through Penn State Cooperative Extension, in partnership with community agencies in Cameron, Elk, McKean and Potter counties.

Taxpayers receive free efiling and tax preparation, as well as money management education.

Appointments in McKean and Cameron counties are available by calling the Family Center. Potter County Education Council offices in Coudersport, Port Allegany and Galeton are also accepting appointments.
