Police investigate car theft

State police stationed in Driftwood arrested a man on Monday for driving off with a vehicle and cash that were not his.

According to police, Paul E. Carlson, 23, was apprehended in Renovo around 10 pm after he allegedly took a 1994 Chevy truck from the Cross Fork Motel in Stewardson Township, Potter County along with $40 that he took from the residence of his employer, Trisha M. Blose, 50, of Cross Fork.

Carlson faces charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehcile and theft.

Injured in two-car crash

A Shinglehouse woman was injured in a car accident that took place just east of Coudersport Borough near the Sweden Valley Manor on Wednesday.

Police said that a car driven by Linda M. Hurd, 44, of Shinglehouse was rear-ended while she was attempting to make a right hand turn into the parking lot of the Sweden Valley Manor.

Police said her car was struck by a truck being operated by 52-year-old Douglas E. Watson of Coudersport.

Troopers said that when Hurd went to turn, Watson was unable to stop before hitting her vehicle and veering into the parking lot of the manor and striking a sign post owned by the manor.

Hurd was slightly injured in the crash. Watson was not hurt.

Charges are pending against Hurd, according to police.

Accident results in minor injury

A Ulysses woman was injured last week when she lost control of her vehicle and crashed on slippery roads.

Police June C. Neyman, 55, of Ulysses, escaped serious injury when her vehicle careened off the road and down a steep bank on Loucks Mills Road in Hector Township, Potter County. A passenger, Dana A. Reid, 35, sustained minor injuries during the accident.

Neyman was not charged.

Criminal mischief

Last week police on Denton Hill responded to a complaint of criminal mischief that occurred on Johnson Road in Ulysses.

According to troopers, a mailbox belonging to James C. Vanpelt, 69, was damaged by an unknown actor. Damage was estimated at $40.
