Geocaching workshop March 29 in Galeton

A geocaching workshop is being held on Saturday, March 29, in Galeton. Participants will learn the basics of Global Positioning Systems (GPS) equipment and how to locate caches which are planted all around the world.

There will be handson training to navigate to a local geocache site, create a cachel, and enter caches on the web for others to locate.

The workshop will take place at the Potter County Education Council office from 8:30 am to 11 am. Cost is $15. To register, call the Potter County Education Council at 435- 9490, 642-2295 or 274-4877.

Geocaching involves the use of a handheld GPS receiver. Based on information provided on the website, geocaching. com, the receiver guides its operator to hidden treasures. Basic handheld GPS receivers are available for under $100.
