'911' groundwork continues

Potter County's "field verification process" for the Enhanced 911 emergency response system continues.

Once it's complete, the system allow fire, ambulance and other emergency personnel to instantly pinpoint location, telephone number, and occupant information whenever 911 is dialed.

Last April, field began performing the field work required to develop the accurate mapping needed to support E911. All field vehicles are identified with "911 County Survey" signs.

The inventories will include road names and lengths; driveways; addresses; photos of each addressed or addressable structure; fire hydrants; cell towers and utility substations, public buildings and other features.

Local governments and utilities are assisting. Residents will continue to see field crews until all areas are completed. All field vehicles are identified with "911 County Survey" signs.
