Cole Memorial awards nursing scholarships
Ashley Kio of Austin is the recipient of the Brenda A. Ross Memorial Nursing Scholarship. This scholarship was established by family and friends in memory of Miss Ross, who was a registered nurse at Charles Cole Memorial Hospital from June 1985 until her death in an automobile accident in January of 1987. Ashley is a 2007 graduate of Austin Area High School and is studying in the nursing program at the Pennsylvania College of Technology. She is the daughter of Dennis and Patricia Kio of Austin. Kiley Walker of Austin is the recipient of the Malachesky Memorial Nursing Scholarship. This scholarship was established in memory of Dr. Thomas and Susan Malachesky, who perished in a private plane crash in November 1985. Dr. Malachesky was a pathologist at the hospital at the time of his death and Mrs. Malachesky was studying to become a nurse.
Kiley is a 2007 graduate of Austin Area High School and is also enrolled in the nursing program at the Pennsylvania College of Technology. She is the daughKiley ter of Terri Walker of Austin.
