In the aftermath of a fire that destroyed a building on main street in downtown Emporium, a decision was made to purchase hose ramps. The ramps enable firefighting equipment and other equipment to drive over water hoses that have been laid across streets. Emporium Rotary Club and Emporium Borough Council each donated $1,200, enabling Emporium Volunteer Fire Dept. to purchase two full sets of hose ramps, totalling eight ramps. Each ramp can hold in excess of 30,000 pounds. Shown demonstrating the equpment, from left, are EVFD volunteers Butch Housler, Jim Narby and Max Narby Emporium Borough Manager Don 'Stretch' Reed, EVFD volunteer Joe Krieg and Rotary Club President Ron Luckenbill.
