Organizers of the sixth annual Dam Show, to be held July 18-19, have lined up four recording artists to anchor this year's entertainment lineup.
On Friday, July 18, headline performers will be Michael Cleveland and Flamekeeper, along with Free Grass Union.
Flamekeeper, from Indiana, was named the outstanding instrumental band for 2007 by the International Bluegrass Music Association.
Michael Cleveland last year won the IBMA award for most outstanding bluegrass fiddler. Rich instrumentals are at mikecleveland.com.
Free Grass Union is described as "an up-and-coming oldtimey sounding bunch of young bluegrass musicians from Long Island." Band members gather 'round a single, oldtime condensor microphone to perform with high energy and contagious fun.
Saturday's show will be headlined by The Buddhahood and the Hackensaw Boys.
Buddhahood, from Rochester, N.Y., was a popular Dam Show performer last year and will repeat the traditional "Drums Along Freeman Run" workshop, followed by a lively evening show.
The Hackensaw Boys are coming all the way from the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. The six-member band blends bluegrass, folk, country, with a dose of punk and roots thrown in. A 2007 CD, "Look Out," enjoys broad airplay and critical acclaim.
Additional details on the Dam Show will be released in the coming weeks.
