LOCAL FOODS GUIDE BEING PREPARED

Northern Tier Chapter of the national "Buy Fresh Buy Local" organization is publishing a Local Foods Guide.

All producers, processors, farmers markets, farm stands, community-sustained agriculture participants and restaurants that are selling local food direct to consumers are welcome to submit information.

The guide will be widely circulated among potential customers.

Buy Fresh Buy Local is coordinated by the Northern Tier Cultural Alliance to promote local food in a region that covers Wyoming, Susquehanna, Bradford, Sullivan, Tioga and Potter counties.

The program was designed to increase demand, consumption and production of local foods, thus providing healthier food for all and supporting local agriculture.

A key provision is to make it easier for consumers to find, choose and appreciate local foods while supporting the farmers and lands which produce them.
