Foresters to look for deer signs For the third straight year, the Pa. Bureau of Forestry will be fanning out across the woods to look for deer droppings. The "pellet count" is an effort to gather consistent and reliable information concerning deer numbers along with habitat data, according to District Forester Jeanne Wambaugh from the Emporium office. "This is a huge effort," she said. "Understanding how our forests are responding to recent deer management strategies is critical to forest conservation." |
