Wrestling all-stars announced

Two underclassmen from Coudersport and Cameron County and Coudersport were among 17 boys named to the Allegheny Mountain Wrestling League All-Star Team.

To no one' surprise, Coudersport sophomore Dirk Cowburn was named to the ceremonial all-star team and selected as the league's outstanding wrestler. He went on to win a district, regional and state 152-pound championships on his way to a perfect 38-0 season.

Cameron County junior Mike Baker was named the league's top 160-pounder. Baker earned a berth in the Northwest Regional Wrestling Tournament with a third-place finish in District 9 and compiled an overall record of 26- 7.

Among other Allegheny Mountain League all-stars were Nick Nichols (130), Dylan Major (215) and Gary Leschner (135), Port Allegany; and Tony Bundy (heavyweight), Oswayo Valley. Port Allegany's Aaron Rendos was named coach of the year.
