Two members of Governor Ed Rendell's Action Team were in Emporium recently in an effort to assess how state government could help small-tomid size companies compete in the U.S. automotive market. Scott Smith, left, and Dale Massie, discussed Fansteel American Sintered Technologies' automotive business with general manager Mark Saline. The state hopes to help companies stay competitive in the automotive industry by helping them overcome financial, and other, problems. Smith will use what he learned from his visit to AST to prepare a report and provide information on what programs may be available to the Emporium manufacturer to retain, and secure more, automotive customers.
