Maple Tour weekend underway Tourists, residents and anyone else with a hint of curiosity can head out to the 4th Annual Potter/Tioga Pennsylvania Maple Weekend today (Saturday) and tomorrow. Area sugar shacks will be open to the public, offering tours and samples to anyone who stops by. Of the 14 shacks participating, seven of those are in Potter County. The Brydonson Farm, Hamilton Maple Products, Charles B. Nelson Sons, Wending Creek Farms, Rathbun Farms, Sappy's Sugar Shack and Sons of Dunn Family Farm will all be demonstrating and educating on maple syrup production from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. If venturing into Tioga County, pancake breakfasts are being served at the Westfield Crary Hose Building and the Ossea Masonic Temple both days. Participating shacks are members of the Potter/Tioga Mapple Producers Association, which was organized in 1963 to promote the maple syrup industry and improve the quality of maple products. More information on this weekend's activities, including addresses and a map, are available at www.pamaple.com. |
