'Clean-up Emporium' planned April 26

Sylvan Heritage Council will once again organize "Clean Up Emporium" this year.

On Saturday, April 26, Emporium Volunteer Fire Department will kick off the event by washing all sidewalks and the roadway starting at 7 am.

Volunteers from several organizations will gather at the mini-park on Chestnut Street to begin tackling clean-up projects along Fourth Street.

Business windows will be cleaned, the street swept of any remaining debris and mulch placed around the trees that line the business district. The triangle will be cleaned of debris and entrances to Emporium on Rt. 120 will be mulched and prepared for the planting of flowers later in the spring.

Those living in Emporium are encouraged to clean up their block. They can sweep debris from the walks, rake yards and flower areas, apply a new layer of mulch and make arrangements to haul away accumulated garbage and unwanted household items from front and side porches.

Any groups or individuals interested in helping with the clean-up should arrive at the mini-park at 8 am Saturday morning to pick up gloves, safety vests and trash bags.
