'Teen Tinnitus' returns April 12

Perfuma will be among the 'Teen Tinnitus' performers.
Teen Tinnitus returns on Saturday, April 12, from 2-8 pm at the Coudersport Consistory. Potter County Suicide Prevention Task Force and Potter County Yellow Ribbon clubs are again sponsoring this event, which features musicians with special appeal to teens.

The fourth annual Teen Tinnitus will feature sets by Perfuma, Slightly Askew, The Slant, Brittany Garrison, Fool Hardy and Painsville Hill.

The bands will be available before and after their performances to sign autographs and sell merchandise. Photos of fans with the bands will be available after their performances.

Local students will be presenting a suicide prevention message throughout the concert.

A Dance Dance Revolution competition will be held for those who want to show off their skills. That's a video-style game with a console and dance pad. Participants move their feet in response to arrows that appear on a screen.

Admission will be $4.00 at the door with no free readmission. The first 300 will receive a free Teen Tinnitus 2008 Tshirt. Some schools will be sending buses. The organizers are emphasizing that this is a drug- and alcohol-free event.

The Slant is a band with local origins and a broadening fan base. Talent blended with an appreciation of musical roots has helped the band produce a sound that appeals to a broad cross-section of listeners.

With an emphasis on insightful lyrics and an eclectic, original musical style, The Slant is a favorite on college campuses. Former Coudersport residents Mark Zedonek, Brad Austin, Zach Dow and Mike Kamper are joined by college acquaintance Andre Costello. The Slant's fourth album, "Old North," was recently released.

Slightly Askew, based in Tioga County, is in its eighth year of bringing danceable ska music to youths. The highenergy band enjoys a solid fan following throughout the Northeast. Slightly Askew is completing work on its fourth studio album.

Painsville Hill is a highvoltage metal band based in Whitesville, N.Y.

Brittany Garrison from Wellsville, N.Y., has made several local appearances since her early teens. Her show blends pop, rock and trip hop.

Perfuma, from Little Falls, N.J., is a punk band with an original sound and no pretensions.

Along those same lines is the music of Fool Hardy, a punk/alternative band from Evansville, Ind.
